Tessa Lavrijsen was appointed head of the Lifestyle & Design Department in 2006. Today, the department counts 170 students and a faculty of 30 dedicated tutors, of which many are practitioners in the fields of styling, design and fashion. It is the largest growing Styling Program in the Netherlands. Responsibilities include safeguarding and maintaining the quality of the curriculum and supervising the staff. Because this department is brand new, also a long term vision and an inspired team of tutors needed to be created from the start.
The Lifestyle & Design course is designed to train students to (re-)style products and brands in a highly distinguishing visual manner, starting from a visionary idea and a personal artistic style. The course trains students as team players with high standing visual and conceptual skills in increasingly complex and challenging assignments.
